around, swear and basically act as everyone else. How can Jesus be
seen if we blend in and conform to the world?
"Do not change yourselves
to be like the people of this world, but be changed within by a new way
of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you:
you will know what is good and pleasing to Him and what is perfect."
"I ask the Father in His great glory to give you the power to be strong
inwardly through His spirit. I pray that Christ will live in your
hearts by faith and that your life will be strong in love and be built
on love" Ephesians 3:16-17
I firmly believe that a Christian should be visibly so by their actions and words. I do not think they should just say nice things or pretend to be good. Or give money, volunteer, or "show off" how good they are so they look good to the world. I think Christians need to dig deep in their hearts and stand for what they claim to believe. They need to discover who this Jesus was, and is. Who God is. And if we claim to follow Him, what does He require of us.
Jesus died on the cross to bear the burden of all sin: Past, present and future. When we sin, and we all do, it adds to His burden. Some say what did it really cost Him..He knew He was going to be raised from the dead. But He bears the scars. Imagine for a moment a innocent person, never knowing guilt or shame or any of the emotional conflicts associated to making mistakes being burdened with sins from the least to the most horrid and atrocious sins imaginable (or unimaginable..stuff you wouldn’t even think of if you tried). Jesus went from glory to earth to hell to glory, and He carried back with Him the scars of the trip. He did it so we could be free, because of the Fathers great love for us.
"But when the right time came, God sent His son who was born of a woman and lived under the law. God did this so He could buy freedom for those who were under the law and so we could become His children." Galatians 4:4-5
It grieves me to see Christians behaving in a way that says "He made this sacrifice so we could do what we want". Self control is not a bad thing, rules are not put there just to "control", usually they are put there to protect you. God is a loving parent, He wants us to grow up strong and be blessed. He loves you.
I have to stop here… I need to go get ready for Good Friday service. Happy Easter everyone. God bless.
